In Salesforce Data Cloud, DMO stands for Data Model Object. It is a standardized business object used to represent information such as individuals, contact points, and other customer-related entities.
A DMO gives data from different sources a common structure. After source data is connected through a data stream and stored in a Data Lake Object (DLO), it can be mapped to a DMO within Data Cloud’s harmonized data model.
DMOs sit between imported source data and capabilities such as identity resolution. They differ from DLOs, which retain source structures, and from unified profiles, which combine records after identity resolution. The term commonly appears in CRM mapping and Data Cloud architecture.
