Salesforce To Acquire Rune Technologies For Missionforce Tactical Logistics
Salesforce signed a definitive agreement on October 29, 2026, to acquire Rune Technologies, an edge-native software provider for military logistics and sustainment operations. The transaction will extend Salesforce Missionforce into denied, degraded, intermittent, and limited connectivity environments, where frontline units operate with little or no reliable network access. The acquisition is expected to close during Salesforce’s fourth fiscal quarter of fiscal year 2027. Salesforce’s announcement does not disclose financial terms.
Rune Extends Missionforce to the Tactical Edge
Rune’s software forecasts supply and resupply needs, recommends resource allocation and transportation routing, and helps teams evaluate logistics plans using enterprise information and live operational data. Its platform is already deployed with the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps.
Salesforce plans to combine Rune’s edge capabilities with Missionforce Operations and the enterprise workflows used for personnel, equipment, maintenance, acquisition, sustainment, field service, and asset management. Data and operational decisions made at the tactical edge are designed to synchronize with enterprise systems when connectivity returns, extending the system-of-record model beyond headquarters and strategic operations.
The deal affects Salesforce’s government and defense architecture rather than the standard commercial CRM product set. For organizations evaluating Missionforce for defense operations, the planned acquisition signals broader native support for disconnected operations and frontline logistics. Rune remains a separate company until the transaction closes, so the announcement does not establish an immediate product integration or a generally available Salesforce feature.
